Amsterdam is a beautiful city to visit in the Netherlands with plenty of things to see and do during the day but it also has a rich and exciting nightlife!

Amsterdam Nightlife has a Great Clubbing Scene
Central Amsterdam has two major hotspots for dance clubs and bars, Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. Leidseplein offers quite a variety of venues with live music and several Irish pubs that you will be sure to want to cozy up in, while Rembrandtplein is one of the busiest squares in the city.
If you want to get off the main tourist strip and avoid the big crowds, head to the outskirts of the city for some of the best clubs in Amsterdam but be prepared to pay a higher fee to get into the nightclub.
The Netherlands has an interesting system when buying alcohol, and some would say this might be the only downside to partying in Amsterdam. Before you can buy a drink you have to buy “tokens,” these tokens are then used to purchase your drink.
Beer and wine use fewer tokens then a mixed cocktail, so be strategic with your purchases, as you will have to stand in line to get your tokens, then stand in line to get your drinks, and you can’t exchange leftover tokens back into cash. Some clubs also charge a fee to use the bathroom, so make sure you bring plenty of cash with you.
When commuting to and from the clubs, do as the locals do and ride a bicycle. This is a great way to get around the city and you will find a stack of bikes lined up outside of the clubs no matter what the weather is. Make sure to remember where you parked yours and if you feel like you might have drank too much, you can always hire a taxi to get you home and find your bike in the morning.
Bars and Cafes
If you are looking for a quieter night out, there are some great bars and cafes located around the city. In Oud-West you will find some really nice spots where you can sit on the terrace along the canal and enjoy a nice drink or two.
Westerpark also has a great bar and cafe scene with many located around the beautiful park and is popular for students and young professionals looking to take a break from the day.
Late-Night Eating
While you are out and about you might be ready to fill your belly with some delicious food, and Amsterdam has some great eateries to hit up after a night of partying.
Check out the curious FEBO vending machine to make a selection and receive some hot junk food at the touch of a button or visit one of the many kebab shops to get the delicious dish, kapsalon. This dish is a plateful of fries topped with kebab meat, slices of Gouda cheese melted in the oven and topped with garlic and sambal sauce and salad. It’s a must-have when enjoying the nightlife in Amsterdam!
