Haridwar is one of the most spiritual spaces in town.
The name “Hari” derives from the Hindu god “Vishnu” and “Dwar” in sanskrit means “gateway”, thus, we can say that “Haridwar” is the gateway to Lord Vishnu. This spiritual city is of immense cultural and spiritual value. It is thought to be the abode of gods. One of the winning factors of this city is how many temples are there. Haridwar is a gateway to the four pilgrimages in Hindu mythology, and the completion of these pilgrimages means you can get out of the cycle of life and death.
Spirituality is sought by everyone, no matter whether they are lost or found. This place does give you an insight on the things that once seemed clouded.
The Journey of A Lifetime
The ghats of Ganga are crowded most of the time but, you can still find solace as the steady wind brushes off of your face. The pilgrims who are keen on washing off their sins would take a dip in the holy river and chant prayers.
You won’t have any problems staying here because there are a bunch of good hotels in Haridwar. As for activities, they are in abundance too.
- The Famous “Ganga Aarti”
As you slowly walk towards the ghat, you can see the priest holding a large bowl of blazing fire which is accompanied by the resonating temple bells and chants that saturate the air with an incomprehensible amount of energy. You can feel the amount of positivity that gets emanated from this ritual. It is performed during the evening at “Har Ki Pauri”
- The temple visits
This place has innumerable temples scattered all across the city but it’s not possible to visit each one of them if you are on a tight schedule. I recommend the temple of Mansi Devi. You can visit the temple either by walking the steep hills or by using the ropeway. The Maya Devi Temple and The Chanda Devi Temple are some of the other temples which are quite popular in Haridwar.
- Jungle Safari
You might have to travel a lot if you want to take a break and go for a jungle safari. The hotels in Haridwar are extensively available where you can even get convenient access to the popular tourist spots. A visit to Rajaji national park will satiate your thirst for Jungle safari. This place is known to have a huge population of elephants and if you are very lucky, then you might even get a glimpse of a tiger.
Revisits
Your soul can never be satisfied with a single trip at Haridwar. Apart from the obvious spirituality factor, this place is majestic on its own. The city and its people with its immense amount of positivity will definitely keep you coming back for more.
