1. Barcelona
It’s super easy to navigate through Barcelona and hard to get lost unless you don’t have a handy travel map with you. If you like architecture, the first thing you want to do is walk through a few of the Gaudi sites.
Antoni Gaudi is a famous architect. His buildings bring in tons of viewers. The most talked-about spots are La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.
Every Thursday through Saturday there’s a fountain light show that happens at about 9 PM. You’ll want to arrive early to get a seat. Since the event is free, spots fill up fast.
There are tons of places to eat in Barcelona but the best restaurants are the hidden ones in the alleyways. Ducking into an alley may send off red flags to many women but don’t worry, Barcelona is a pretty safe place for women only travel.
While you’re already in the alleyways, take a walk around. You’ll be hard-pressed to throw a rock without hitting a gorgeous historical building.
2. Iceland
Need a little escape from the hot sun? Iceland is the way to go. The climate is cool and the people are some of the warmest you’ll ever meet.
With Iceland’s low crime rate and views of gender equality, you can vacation at ease. The community is pretty tight-knit too so it won’t feel like you’re actually traveling alone.
You’ll meet all kinds of colorful locals with fun stories to tell. Iceland is pretty easy to navigate because of the ring road. It leads to pretty much all the major tourist spots and it’s well maintained.
There are plenty of places around Iceland for you to kick back and relax such as the hot springs. If you would rather do than relax and let your mind wander, there are adrenaline-filled activities like river rafting that you can partake in too.
3. Seattle
Even though Seattle is a major city, the crime rate is pretty low when compared to others. As long as you walk like you know where you’re going, you’ll do just fine.
The best way to take in the city is with a one-day tour. A professional will take you around and tell you all about the major attractions and talk to you about the neighborhoods. Included in the tour is the iconic Space Needle.
You can also take a tour of the vineyards and Snoqualmie Falls. Partaking in the Seattle Locks Cruise also makes for an ideal weekend getaway for one. It’s a 2.5-hour long cruise that will allow you to see a lot of best scenic areas and learn more about the city.
4. Switzerland
There’s pretty much no crime in Switzerland so it’s perfect for solo female travel. It’s sort of an expensive place to venture to but there’s something for everyone here. We’ll start with the outdoorsy stuff.
Switzerland is a great place to do a little hiking. If you go in the winter then there are more than a few resorts open for you to go skiing and snowboarding. If the snow has you shivering then you can check out the thermal spas.
If you’re a history buff then you’ll want to make Bern a part of your trip. There are tons of art and history museums scattered throughout the city. You can even check out Albert Einstein’s house.
Want to go on a shopping spree? Zurich is the place to go. There you will find cute places to do a little window shopping.
When you get tired, there are a few cafes where you can stop to get coffee and recharge.
5. Munich
Like in Iceland, you’ll never feel alone in Munich There’s always a crowd of friendly faces in the beer halls and beer gardens. The most famous beer hall in the city is Hofbrauhaus.
You’ll want to get there well before 7 PM if you want to get ahead of the rush. There’s pretty much a museum on every subject in Munich. Including Deutsches which is the biggest natural science museum in Europe.
If you’re into the theatre scene you’ll want to go to the Staatsoper opera house to either get a tour or catch a show. Tickets are actually quite affordable.
6. New Zealand
New Zealand is a small place and safe enough to where many hitchhike. If you don’t want to do that, we understand. The best way to get around and see all the sights is by renting a car yourself.
Prices in New Zealand are cheap so your money will go a long way. One thing to note is if you want to go on a hike by yourself, contact someone and tell them where you’re going and when you’re planning on getting back. The trails can be a little treacherous for beginners.
You should be safe on day hikes though. If you’re a fan of the Lord of the Rings series, you can head over to Hobbiton. The entrance fee is a little pricey but it’s worth it.
