A vacation is supposed to be a joyous time. However, for some, the thought of traveling and being away from home for a week creates nothing but anxiety and apprehension.
Does your family have trouble getting stoked for vacations? Looking to turn the tide this year? Here are 4 ways you and your family can get excited about your big vacation.
1. Plan it Together
The best way to make everyone in your family feel good about a vacation is by planning it together. This doesn’t mean that you all need to sit on speaker phone while you make hotel reservations, it just means that you need to give everyone a little input.
Create an itinerary. Ask everyone in the family what they’d like to do during the trip, and pencil it into your schedule.
After all, this is a vacation for the entire family, not just the principal planner of the trip. You need to make sure that every family member has something that will keep him or her invested.
2. Watch Some Videos
Regardless of where you’re heading, you can almost undoubtedly find videos related to it online. YouTube, in particular, is loaded with travel videos, covering just about every vacation destination that exists in the world.
Videos do a great job of bringing specific places to life, showing you not only what those places have to offer, but what it’s like to experience those places. There are videos centered toward all age groups, so everyone from kids to adults, to seniors, can find their own ways to get excited.
3. Read a Travel Blog
There is an essentially endless list of travel blogs existing on the internet today. Some of these blogs are geared toward adults, some of these blogs are geared toward kids, some of these blogs are geared toward men, and some of these blogs are geared toward women. Regardless of the categories that you fit into, there will be a travel blog to accommodate you.
Travel blogs are useful in that they show you the real side of vacation destinations. Not only do they cover the major tourist-driven attractions, but the small, culture-driven attractions as well.
If you really want to get a legitimate feel for the place that you’re heading, a travel blog can help you get it.
4. Create a Moodboard
One last thing you can do to get your family excited for your vacation is to create a moodboard. Moodboards are picture-driven entities which allow you to visualize your thoughts.
By putting together a moodboard for your vacation destination and posting it up in your home, you help your family members to get progressively more excited for your trip.
