Vacations need to be memorable. And one way to make the memorable is to try things that are out of the ordinary.
You know, make those family memories.
Here is our list of thrill seeking activities that will add that special something to your vacation.
Just don’t drop the camera.
Cage of Death
You can choose, saltwater crocodiles or sharks.
If you happen to be vacationing in Australia, you can stare directly into the face of some of the earth’s most intimidating creatures — saltwater crocodiles. These cages are glass and hold two people at a time. You know so that someone can hold your hand.
Or, if you’re into ocean-life, try cage swimming with sharks. Some companies will lower you down into shark-infested waters. And you actually pay them to do that.
Skydiving Past Mountain Peeks
Think about it, you could spend years training to climb some of the world’s tallest mountains, or you could take a plane up and skydive down. The views are the same, right?
Headed to Nepal anytime soon? Check out the skydiving adventure that allows you to jump out of a plane at 29,500 feet. That’s higher than Everest. Just make sure you have enough warm clothes when you land back in base camp.
Whitewater River Rafting
Strap on a life jacket, climb in a raft, then hang on.
There are thousands of rivers to experience whitewater rafting on. In North America, you have the Colorado River, The Salmon River, and The Chatanooga River.
But, if you’re looking for the next level when it comes to rapids, you’ll need to catch a flight to Zambia. The Zambezi River is a Class 5 and is famous for its rapids named Oblivion, Overland Truck Crash, and Stairway to Heaven.
Good luck with those.
Zip Down a Zipline
Every major vacation spot now has ziplining. Over the past few years, ziplining has increased in popularity as it is adventurous but still relatively safe.
The longest zip line is in South Africa. You start from a point that is 300 yards up, and the line is over 1 mile long. Riders get going close to 100 miles per hour.
So as long as you don’t mind picking bugs out of your teeth for a week, we say go for it.
Amusement Parks
Are you a roller coaster junkie? Do you have to find the best roller coaster no matter where you go on vacation?
If so, then you need to head to Japan. The world’s steepest roller coaster opened in Yamanashi Japan in 2011. Riders free fall 121 degrees, experience G forces through twists, and drop over 141 feet.
Now that’s not your grandma’s roller coaster.
